Editing

Tuesday, 25th March

Today i continued editing the title sequence, i looked at the ending and tried to work out how i could make it tie in more with the sequence, i decided to use a old clip that we shot up London and altered the speed of it from 100% to 800%, this makes it appear as though the impact of the bus hitting the male character is quick. I have yet to add sound effects of the crash and also change the colour of this shot to black and white.

Feedback

This is the feedback we received from other class members after showing the first cut of our title sequence, the feedback informs us on what we need to change, add and improve on also what they liked about our title sequence . Furthermore a rating on our title sequence.

Today i went back to continue editing. However when logging onto the MAC's due to them having to be reset all of our title sequence had been wiped, however one of the technicians managed to get back some of the files, but unfortunately they was all muddled up in the wrong order and some of the clips had become un-useable. Therefore fortunately we had saved the exported first cut of our title sequence, to a memory stick and are able to use this to edit to finish our final piece, although this means that certain things in the sequence cannot be edited for example the titles. However we were able to edit the sequence, using magic bullet pro, adding a black and white effect to the scenes the male character is present in.
On Wednesday, i am going to edit the ending of the title sequence.

Editing

So far this is how far i have got in the editing process for the ending of the title sequence, although there is still work to be completed on this, which i will continue to do on Magic bullet pro. Using magic bullet pro i will change the filter on the sequence, so they match or even as suggested before from our feedback convert them into black and white shots.

Editing

Thursday, 20th March

This is a preliminary cut of our title sequence. From this changes still have to made, such as using Magic Bullet pro in order to change the effects of some of the shots to black and white when the male character is present. Furthermore it has to be rendered and exported.

Feedback

Following a screening of our title sequence to our fellow class members we received some positive feedback on our title sequence along with some suggestions of improvements that could be made. Taking these suggestions on board i am now going to continue editing the title sequence to make these slight adjustments.
One piece of feedback we received was that we could change the colour of the shots where the male character is present to black and white, leaving the scenes where the female character present colourful, especially focusing on the pink bag prop, which acts alike in "How i met your mother" (the yellow umbrella) which indicates that she is going to be the main love interest. Furthermore by making these scenes black and white it suggests that the scenes where the female character appears, that she brings colour to his dull life.
Moreover, some of the scenes could be shortened down in order to pace up the title sequence.

Positive feedback that we have received was that everyone enjoyed the split screens, adding to the Rom-com genre. They also enjoyed the colours that was also used on these split screens.

When it came to ending of the title sequence we all agreed that we was not happy with it therefore, i have gone back to the editing stage and trying to find alternatives in order to improve it.

Editing

18th March 2014, Tuesday

Today i continued editing the title sequence, furthermore updating my blog. In addition to this i have also continued on my evaluation answering the questions present. I am doing this in a essay type format. I also moved around some of the opening titles making them larger also fitting them in the correct places that we want them to appear. Moreover, we also added in the title making this larger and more centre than before, in order to make it stand out more.

Editing

17th March 2014, Monday

Today i continued editing the title sequence. Using Magic Bullets looks, i edited some of the beginning shots in the sequence in order to make them appear brighter, so they fit in with the new shots that we filmed on friday. Furthermore editing and moving around the titles and also cleaning up some of the edits made on the transition slides. Today i also added in The universal studio titles.

Editing

Friday, 14th March

Today me and Laxmi continued editing the titles sequence deleting certain shots that we and our other media teacher Emily felt we did not need, this happened to be a clip of Big Ben. We than started adding in the titles to the sequence, cutting them down editing the colour and placing them where we thought fit. However there are some titles that we need to go back to and position them to the right where as they are currently on the left.

I have also been going back a adding to my blog, analysing my research after a review and discussion with Emily. We yet have to clean up some of the editing and brighten up some of the clips which we plan on doing by using Magic Bullet Pro.

Filming and Editing

Thursday, 13th March

Today i began editing the title sequence once again and following Leanne's advice during the free periods me and Aaron went back out to shoot some of the shots we was missing. This included more shots of me walking so we could use this to enhance the cinematography aspect within our title sequence. We also got shots of Aaron stepping off of a pavement into the road, followed by a close-up shot of his face before he gets hit by the moving vehicle.

After this i then returned to the editing stage, importing and converting these clips and adding them to the sequence if final cut pro, cutting them down and fitting them into the sequence.

Editing 12/03/14

In today's lesson i continued editing the title sequence, adding more split screens and tinting to the shots. I have also added video transitions into the sequence. From discussing the title sequence with Leanne after she watched it we decided that we need to re-shoot some more shot from different angels in order to add more to the sequence. To not only pro-long the sequence, but also add more to it. Which we have agreed we will shoot tomorrow during our free periods, however as none of these shots need to be filmed up London we will shoot the scenes in the area, perhaps outside the school.

One of the shots we are going to get is the ending where Aaron gets hit by a bus, we have decided in order to get this shot  will film Aaron stepping off the pavement, then jump cut to a bus coming towards him and then back to a close-up of Aarons face which has a scared expression on. Another shot we have decided to get is more of me in the sequence.

Editing

Friday, 7th March

Today in media we was working on Logic film pro again editing our final sequence, after asking the technician Jack on how to create certain effects such as split screens we then added these into our sequence. The split screen was inserted in the scene showing the two characters contrasting the female appling lipgloss and the male eating a burger. I also was editing many of the clips to brighten up the shots, to make them appear more happy and bright looking appealing to the rom-com genre. Furthermore i also created a three-way split screen on the shot where the female character is walking to make it appear more entertaining to watch, also adding tinting and colour enchaning in order to make it appear more upbeat.

Editing

Thursday, 6th March

During my free periods, i uploaded and converted the new shots we filmed up London on the Wednesday. Routinley going through them and editing them, cutting each shot down and then creating a rough copy of our title sequence. After completing this and also presenting it to other memebers of my group we all decieded that we was happy with what we had so far and was a huge improvement from our previous rough cut, after taking on board Sinead and Leanne's advice, we was able to make the sequence flow better and adding comedy to abide by the rom-com genre. Further editing will be continued of Friday.

Titles

When creating the titles we used "Da Font" in order to select a specific font, then uploaded this font into photoshop in order to create the titles.

Then we created a survey for others to complete of which font they prefered to be used in our final piece. The results showed that the majority of people liked the 5th design for the titles. Therefore as a result of this, we have slected this font to be in our final piece.

Following the questionnaire we found from the twenty-two people we distributed the questionnaire out to we gathered the results and imputed them onto a graph. These are our finding below.

Filming

Wednesday, 5th March

As discussed with Leanne, we agreed that we could miss her lesson and revisit London in order to re-shoot some of the shots for our sequence. Once up there we revisited Waterloo East Station and re-shot some scenes outside the station of Aaron dancing and viewing his appearance in a office window, to create a light hearted atmosphere. From here we made our way down the embankment stopping off in Mcodnalds to get a burger as one of the props for our shot. In this shot Aaron bites into the burger which is shot via a extreme close-up with the ketchup falling on his face, this we felt would create a sense of clumsliness to his character. We decieded that using this shot we would create a split screen in which we would merge the shot of him eating the burger with a shot of myself applying lip gloss again using a extreme close-up, to show the contrast between the two characters. The female being sophisticated and classy and the male being Clumsy and unlucky.

After this scene we also filmed some walking shots using the focus, to focus in on me as i walked through a crowd of people. Furhtermore filming a scene of me emerging out of a underground station, using the tri-pod tracking as i walk by.
The final shot we took was one of Aaron walking out in front of a bus about to get hit, this is the point where our title sequence will end, with the screen going black and only present is the sound of a car crash, to present to the audience what has happened.

Journal

Monday, 3rd March

In Sineads lesson me, Aaron and Laxmi re-looked over our current rough cut for our title sequence and also showed it to Sinead in order to get opinion on what we had so far. In her opinion she thought that from the rough cut we had done so far, the sequence was not comedic and had a serious tone to it, this mostly due to the recorded voice over that we created. She suggested that we go back into London and re-shoot some of the scenes adding humour to create a light hearted atmosphere.
